About SUS: SUS is a mostly-fictional comic about the misadventures of 5 science students at the mostly-fictional Mountain Port University. It exists because there might be a niche for a clever comic about science undergrad life...or something. It tries to be a little bit satire and a little bit joke-a-day and for a small portion of the population causes laughter. It is best when read a chapter at a time, or when you are familiar with the chapter as the writer/artist is kind of a lazy douchebag and likes to make self-referential jokes. The comic was started in January 2007 and was first on the internets in 2008 which is why the art goes from simple and not so good to less simple and acceptable. Perhaps one day it will earn a goldstar. SUS was placed on the internet as an experiment to see if it only appeals to people who know the artist/ are Canadian Science Undergraduates/ are dead inside. Main continuity updates on Wednesday. Random and Brazen Guides update whenever. About Mr London: Mr. London is the proverbial something different. It is inspired by the fire exit signs that hang in London England. The escaping figure depicted on it is the foremost action hero of England. Running from danger? Running to it? Perhaps he is a ninja master. A few ludicrous notebook doodles later and Mr. London was born. It seeks to explore the interplay between art as object and insanity as humour. Or in less pretentious and lie-ful words it tries to be really funny in really random ways. It updates Tuesdays and Thursdays. About the Artist/Writer: Michael Bround is a full time Science Undergraduate. He is majoring in Biochemistry at the University of British Columbia. UBC once had a biochemist who won a nobel prize (Michael Smith) and Life Scientists hear about this monthly. Michael has used Michael Smiths 40 year old analytical centrifuge, it fills a room and has analogue switches. Michael Bround has drawn all his life, dabbled in cartooning in highschool , and has amateurishly and enthusaistically pursued it in university. He is responsible for most of the twice weekly editorial cartoons in the Ubyssey Newspaper over the last two years. He has also written a few comedic/opinion pieces. He has held jobs as a produce clerk, graphic designer, and camp counciler. He is currently working in a Molecular Genetics lab for a small Vancouver based biotech company. It 's like working in a candy shop where eating things could kill you. Once he was bit on the lip by an ant during his lunch break. Michael is quietly hoping to develop ant themed superpowers. It isn't going well. |
